First ever exhibition

In September this year I was kindly invited to take part in an art exhibition showcasing women artists from the local area here in Dumfries & Galloway. After working on my first collection of embroidery paintings pretty much by myself, I was really keen to take the opportunity to meet other artists from the area and to share my work somewhere other than social media.

After laying out my work on the floor and thinking of a million different layouts I decided to keep it fairly simple with a few hoops, a couple of larger pieces that I’d had recently framed and one framed illustration. Luckily the space I had to fill wasn’t too big which helped, as I must admit having only started making a few pieces earlier this year, the thought of exhibiting made me pretty nervous. On the morning of hanging the work and fiddling away with nails and hooks, it was so nice to step back and look at the collection amongst all the work of the other artists. I had a nice chat with some of the fellow exhibitors which was lovely and everyone was so supportive of each other.

Thank you so much to the organisers of the Wigtown Festival Fringe for giving us the chance to share our work.
